Bypass settings
Use the Segments page to configure port settings and heartbeat settings, and to activate bypass mode or
go into inline mode for Network IPS appliances connected to the network segments.
The following settings are used for configuring a network segment:

You can program the 10G Network
Active Bypass unit to open a network
link to maintain the flow of traffic in
case of a power loss, or to close the
network link so that no traffic flows
through the Network IPS appliance.
The 10G Network Active Bypass unit
provides two redundant power
supplies to minimize the loss of
power. If a power failure is detected,
Power Fail Protection Operation is
triggered, which initiates a switch to
bypass mode. During this no power
state, the network ports connect
physically to create a passive bypass
path without any traffic interruption
between them.
Open:
The flow of traffic remains
uninterrupted.
Close:
If the 10G Network Active
Bypass unit switches to bypass mode,
the flow of traffic is interrupted for
the network ports. The 10G Network
Active Bypass unit only resumes
traffic flow when the 10G Network
Active Bypass unit is inline.

When set to "Internal," the system
uses a heartbeat in order to
determine appliance status. When set
to "Link," the system uses the link
status of the appliance ports to
determine the status of the appliance.
