4.4.2 The User Serial Interface Program
The
User Serial Interface
Program
allows the user to input the rating(s) for a current meter.
The user connects the
PVD100
to a laptop, desktop, PocketPC, or other type of field
computing device having a terminal emulator software program (such as HyperTerm) for
communication. Once connected, the user then enters on the remote terminal device the
upper case letter
‘E’.
Once entered, the user selects between meter ‘
A
’ or ‘
B
’ and then enters
the following information about the current meter:
a)
Serial Number,
b)
Number of equations (or ratings),
c)
First term (slope) and signed second term (intercept) for the rating,
d)
A rotations/second range
n
(if a current meter has more than one equation for its
rating).
The following procedure can be used to enter all information necessary for the
PVD100
to
compute velocity for a measurement. To exit anytime from the
User Serial Interface
Program
, use the ‘
Esc
’ key.
Step 1
: Connect
the
PVD100
using the serial communications cable or
Bluetooth
®
connection. If a
Bluetooth®
connection is desired, first enable the
Bluetooth®
connection between the
PVD100
and the remote terminal device before entering
the
User Serial Interface
Program
.
Step 2
:
To enter the
User Serial Interface
Program
(USIP), enter
‘E’
on the keyboard.
The USIP responds with the following message:
A=S/N 1000-00
B=S/N 2000-00
A, B or S? _
The Serial Number for each meter is displayed followed by a selection request
from the user. Selecting ‘
A
’ means choosing meter ‘
A
’ or meter #1. ‘
B
’
designates meter #2. ‘
S
’ is an entry that will provide a summary of the rating(s)
and ranges for each meter and gives the user a way to verify entries.
Step 3
:
The user must enter ‘
A
’, ‘
B
’, or ‘
S
’.
The following instructions will assume Meter ‘A’ has been selected.
The USIP responds with the Serial Number for Meter ‘
A
’ (or meter #1). For this
example, the USIP responds with the following default Serial Number:
A: S/N 10000-00
The letter ‘
A
’ designated above specifies the meter number and is not alterable by
