2. No individual func-
tion
2a.
Observe pilot light(s) on relevant
valve. If pilot light related to inopera-
tive function fails to light, problem is
electrical
2a.
Check the wiring to the relevant valve
2b.
If pilot light related to inoperative
function does light, problem may still
be the coil. If problem remains it may
result from dirt in the valve spool
2b.
Disassembly of hydraulic valves should
be under taken only by qualified service
personnel or those knowledgeable with
hydraulic components
3. Head will not de-
scend
3a.
Feed Rate Valve is fully closed - point-
er is set on “0” or close to “0” in/min.
3a.
Turn Feed Rate Knob counter clockwise
to open valve
3b. Feed Force Limit is set too low
3b. Increase Feed Force Limit
3c.
Check for physical interference pre-
venting the head from falling
3c.
Remove obstructions

NOTE: The PLC is equipped with a lithium battery to keep the program stored while the power is shut down. The battery
will need to be replaced every 3 to 5 years, depending on usage. A visual warning will be displayed on the interface when
the battery drains to a certain level. Batteries can be purchased through your Hyd·Mech Distributor.
The programmable length control (PLC) uses signals from limit switches, control panel switches, an encoder (rotary shaft
or linear) and information which is programmed into it, to supply accurate automatic length control and sawing functions.
The inputs used include;
•
the machine function switches & push-button
•
also a signal from the auto/manual push button (telling the PLC whether auto or manual operation has been cho-
sen).
A proximity switch and target mounted to the gearbox drive pulley or behind idler wheel, provides blade speed input to the
PLC.
The programmed information includes logic put into the PLC be its manufacturer, as well as information programmed in,
through the keypad, by the assembly plant. Information from the assembly plant is referred to as the parameters. The pa-
rameters are important for the PLC to provide accurate sawing lengths and blade speed display. Following is a description
of each parameter and the procedure to access them.
To view the PLC parameters:
For semiautomatic “P” models, refer to the PLC key description.
