Replace the air filter. Applies to paper ele-
ment type only.

Clean the sediment cup.

Examine and clean the spark plug. Replace
the spark plug if it is necessary.

Clean the spark arrestor screen on the muf-
fler.

Do a check of the idle speed.

Adjust the valve head clearance for the air in-
take and the exhaust valves.

Drain the fuel and clean the fuel tank and the
fuel filter.

Clean the combustion chamber.

Examine the fuel line. Replace it if it is nec-
essary.

To do a check of the engine oil level
The sensor for low oil level automatically stops the
engine before the engine oil level becomes too low but it
is recommended to do a check of the engine oil level
before each start. The sensor for low oil level is not
included on all engine models. Refer to
on page 17
.
CAUTION: Do not operate the engine with
low engine oil level. It can cause damage to
the engine.
CAUTION: Use detergent engine oil for 4-
stroke engines with the viscosity range
shown in the illustration.

1. Stop the engine and make sure that it is level.
2. Remove the oil tank cap and dipstick (A).

3. Clean the oil from the dipstick.
4. Put the dipstick back but do not tighten it.
5. Remove the dipstick.
6. Examine the engine oil level on the dipstick.
7. If the engine oil level is low (B), fill engine oil to the
edge of the oil tank hole (C).
8. Do a check of the engine oil level again.
9. Install the oil tank cap and dipstick.
