The ESD wrist strap cannot protect you and the boards against static charges
generated from contact between boards and your clothes. Therefore, avoid any
contacts between boards and your clothes.
−
Use a simple ESD pad when replacing board software or a chip. Before taking,
removing, or inserting a chip, wear the ESD wrist strap. Use ESD tweezers or an
antistatic chip extractor to move, remove, or insert a chip. Without wearing ESD
gloves, do not touch the chips or pins on a printed circuit board (PCB).
−
Keep the boards and other ESD sensitive parts to be installed in static shielding bags.
Place the removed boards or components on the simple ESD pad in the ESD tool kit
or other effective ESD materials. Do not use non-ESD materials, such as white plastic
foams, plastic bags, or paper bags, to pack or touch boards.
−
Wear an ESD wrist strap when working on a board port. Before you connect a cable
or protective sleeve to a board port, discharge any buildup of static electricity.
−
Reserve some installation materials (for example, vacuum formed box and static
shielding bag) for boards in the equipment room.
Procedure
Slots 0 and 1 are used to accommodate ECCB boards. If there is only one ECCB board, insert
it into slot 0.
Each slot in the VP9660 chassis is provided with a filler panel. To insert boards into slots,
loosen the screws counterclockwise in the filler panels, remove the filler panels, and insert the
boards from left to right. In the following procedure, an ECCB board is inserted into slot 0.
To facilitate description, the filler panels in the following figures have been removed. If a slot has no
board inserted, mount a filler panel on the slot.
Step 1
Hold the ejector levers on the two sides of the board and pull them outward. Insert the board
along the slot guide rail until the locating pins on the ejector levers contact the pin locating
holes on the frame, as shown in
