locking the solenoid hood cover lock
To activate and lock the solenoid hood cover lock, complete the following steps:
1. Turn on or restart the workstation.
2. When the
F10=Setup
message appears in the lower-right corner of the screen, press the
F10
key. Press
Enter
to bypass the title screen, if necessary.
NOTE:
If you do not press the
F10
key while the message is displayed, you must restart the
workstation to access the utility.
3. Select Security, then select hood cover and the Locked option.
4. Before exiting, click File > Save Changes and Exit.

NOTE:
If you do not press the

key while the message is displayed, you must restart the
workstation to access the utility.
3. Select Security > hood cover > Unlocked.
4. Before exiting, click File > Save Changes and Exit.
using the hood cover FailSafe key
If you enable the solenoid hood cover lock and cannot enter your password to disable the lock,
you will need a hood cover FailSafe Key to open the workstation hood cover. You will need the
key in any of the following circumstances:

Power outage
■
Startup failure
■
PC component failure (such as processor or power supply)
■
Forgotten password

CAUTION: The hood cover FailSafe Key is a specialized tool available from HP. Be prepared; order this
key before you need one.
To obtain the FailSafe Key, do any one of the following:

Contact your authorized HP reseller or service provider.
■
Refer to the HP Web site (

) for ordering information.
■
Call the appropriate number listed in the warranty.
