Installing a Drive in a Front Shelf
WARNING
To avoid electric shock and harm to your eyes by laser light from a
CD-ROM or CD-RW drive, do not open the CD-ROM or CD-RW
enclosure. The drive should be serviced by authorized service
personnel only.
Refer to the label on the CD-ROM or CD-RW drive for power
requirements and wavelength. These products are Class 1 laser
products.
Refer to the drive’s manual to see if you must set jumpers or if there is
a special installation procedure to follow.

Turn off the display and computer, and disconnect the power supply
cords and any connection to a telecommunications network.

Remove the computer’s cover (refer to page 27).

Press the two retaining clips of the front drive unit inward and slide
the unit forward about halfway.

Remove the data and power cables connected to the rear of any
devices that are installed in the front drive unit.
