Chapter 3
HP NetServer Management

Web Interface
Support Anywhere allows you to monitor, configure, and manage your NetServer
over the web. You can access your NetServer(s) from a list of managed servers, or
you can click Go There on an Auto Alert screen to proceed directly to a
problematic server. At the server’s web pages, you can browse detailed
information about the operational environment, including:
•
System information
•
Current operation
•
Operational history
•
HP Support
Using your own browser (either Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Explorer), you
can view critical functions and statistics for each NetServer you include in setup.
You can also reconfigure alarm thresholds for Support Anywhere’s Auto Alert
feature.
For more detailed information about using Support Anywhere’s Web Interface, see
Appendix E. For detailed information about installation, consult the HP Support
Anywhere Installation and User Guide.
Remote Console Options
The HP NetServers E Series incorporate remote access capabilities that allow you
to access your NetServer from a remote site. Remote access is particularly useful
for network administrators, VARs, support technicians, and other maintenance
personnel who can evaluate, maintain, and, if necessary, reconfigure a NetServer
remotely.
Support Anywhere includes three distinct methods you can use to remotely control
an HP NetServer. These are:
•
HP’s Remote Console Redirection (E 40 only)
•
Graphics Console Redirection (Windows NT)
•
RCONSOLE (Novell NetWare / IntranetWare)
NOTE
For more detailed information about enabling HP Support
Anywhere remote access tools on your NetServer, refer to
Appendix E, or the HP Support Anywhere Installation and
User Guide.
