NOTE:
Once launched, the Data Protector Express character-based installer runs the same under
NetWare, Linux, or Windows.
To start the Data Protector Express Administrator, refer to the
User’s Guide and Technical Reference
.
Install Data Protector Express
Use this option to install Data Protector Express for the first time or to reinstall Data Protector Express.
The Data Protector Express installer guides you through each step of the installation process.
NOTE:
At any point in this process, you can press
Esc
to back up to a previous screen.
1. Access the Installation Options screen (see
Launch Data Protector Express Installer
). Select
Install
Data Protector Express
and press
Enter
.
If you are installing alongside a previously existing version of Data Protector Express, follow the
steps in
Custom installation
.
2. The Select Install Option screen appears. Select the
Quick
,
Recommended
, or
Custom
installation:
Type
Description
Quick installation
The installation program installs using the default installation values. The
following items are installed:
•
The Data Protector Express software in SYS:\HP\DPX (NetWare),
/usr/local/hp/dpx (Linux), or C:\Program Files\HP\Data Protector
Express (Windows)
•
A desktop shortcut for the Data Protector Express Administrator
•
The Data Protector Express service
A new domain called Data Protector Express Storage Domain is created.
Recommended
installation
The installation program uses a set of default options, some of which you
can modify. You can modify:
•
The installation directory
•
The name of the Data Protector Express storage domain.
Custom installation
The installation program installs using the choices that you specify. You can
modify:
•
The installation directory
•
The name of the Data Protector Express storage domain.
You can choose (or deselect) the following options:
•
Add a shortcut for the administrator to the desktop
•
Install the Data Protector Express service
