Chapter 2: Installing Data Protector Express
with the GUI Installer
This section provides instructions on how to install Data Protector Express using the GUI installer on
Windows or Linux systems.

Windows Launch
NOTE:
If Data Protector Express is running, you must close it before continuing.
You must have Administrator access to install Data Protector Express.
To launch the Data Protector Express Installation Manager
1. Select one of the following choices:

Insert the Data Protector Express CD-ROM in your CD drive. The Data Protector Express
Installation Manager launches automatically.
•
Access the root directory on the Data Protector Express CD-ROM and double-click
setup.exe
.
2. To display the Installation Manager screens, options and messages in a different language, select the
appropriate language under the
Languages
task bar.
3. To display an online help topic, click a link in the
Dynamic help
task bar.
Linux Launch
You must install Data Protector Express as the root user.
Select from the following choices:
CD drive:
From the Data Protector Express CD-ROM, be sure a CD drive is attached to your Linux
machine before using the following installation instructions. If a CD drive is not attached to the machine,
you must copy the CD to your local hard drive if this is the first time that you have installed Data
Protector Express. You can also download a CD image.
