Inspection in the field
Besides the setting in the metering unit, the
placing quality depends on further factors. This
can be negatively influenced by:
•
Rotary speed of the metering disc. It depends
on working speed and seed quantity.
•
Soil condition and changes in soil conditions.
•
Vibrations and erratic running of the drill units;
adapt the coulter pressure accordingly.
•
Adjustment and function of the trap roller.
The placement must be checked before
starting work and, when processing
large areas, also in-between:
¾
Drive the travel distance with constant speed
(approx. 50 m).
After the acceleration phase the grains should
have been placed at normal working speed.
¾
Open seed furrows of various rows (distributed
across the entire working width) over a length
of at least 10 m.
In this case you must also open and check the
rows behind the tractor tracks.
¾
Uncover the grains carefully from the side, so
that they will not be displaced in the seed bed.
¾
Measure the placement depth and the grain
spacing.
The nominal seed spacing is displayed in the
E-Manager terminal.
Any changes to the metering unit can influ
-
ence the placement accuracy.
Pay attention to the evaluation and the dis
-
play in the terminal, repeat the test sequenc
-
es in case of negative changes.
Sowing
soy
When sowing soy, the seed is not correctly de-
tected to 100% by the sensor.
The placement must therefore strictly be inspect-
ed in the field.
¾
Read the nominal seed spacing in the monitor.
¾
Calculate the nominal seed quantity per
meter.
Example: Nominal grain spacing 2 cm
g
100 cm: 2 cm = 50 seeds/m
¾
Open 1 meter and count the seeds
(= actual quantity of grains)
¾
Compare the nominal seed quantity with the
actual seed quantity.
¾
Adjust the nominal seed spacing, if necessary.
Problems and rectification
Seed problems and faults may be caused by
grain pick-up (1), on the scraper (2) and in grain
transfer (3).
