7.5. Replacing the Solvent- or Sample-Waste Valve (50-2535)
PURPOSE:
This work instruction will outline the process to replace either the Solvent-Waste Valve or the Sample-
Waste Valve within a SPE-DEX 4790 Module. The valves are identical in nature but are connected to the
vacuum and electrical supplies differently.
TOOLS:
-
¼ inch Nut Driver
-
5/16 inch Wrench
-
Molex Pin Extraction Tool (99-0766)
-
Small Standard Screwdriver
-
Small Phillips Screwdriver
PARTS REQUIRED:
50-2535 – Solvent-Waste / Sample-Waste Valve
99-0766 – Molex Pin Extraction Tool
CAUTIONS:
Prior to beginning, the Controller should be turned off and the Module should have the data/power cable
unplugged.
PROCEDURE:
19.
Remove the five (5) screws from the rear of the Module using the ¼ inch Nut Driver.
20.
Remove the cover by holding the bottom of each side and pushing the bottom backwards to
disengage the front locking tabs. Lift the cover off.
21.
Locate the mounting bracket and identify the valve which needs to be replaced using the labeled
picture.
22.
Loosen the 5/16” hexagonal nut and the screw, circled in red.
23.
Depress the locking mechanism and separate the two halves of the Molex connector.
24.
Carefully cut the head off of all the wire ties on the yellow electrical lines.
25.
The pin layout for the Molex connector half attached to the valves is shown below. Note that the
locking mechanism is shown up.
