Preventative Maintenance: System
A specific point to the System PM Kit is to replace those tools which are vital to the running of the System
every day. The following sections will detail the replacement of those parts which are mutual to all Modules.
5.3.1. Check Valve Tool
This tool allows users to ensure that the Check Valve is free. This tool
is often misplaced by the end users and is included due to its
importance.
1.
Push down on the Platform on the front of the 4790 to allow
more room between the Downtube and the Platform.
2.
While holding the Platform down, place the long, thin end of the
Check Valve Tool into the hole.
3.
Tap the top of the Check Valve Tool gently. The Tool should
bounce freely up and down with no resistance.
Note
: The Check Valve contains a small ceramic ball which may be
damaged if a substitute is made for the Check Valve Tool. Materials which are harder than the ceramic
may chip or gouge the ball.
5.3.2. Thermistor Height Adjustment Tool
The height of the Thermistors determines the amount of solvent which is dispensed during a Prewet step
as well as indicates to the instrument when sample matrix is no longer present in the Disk Holder. The
optimum height of the Thermistors are easily set using this tool.
1.
Remove the Thermistor Clip from the Downtube.
2.
Using the Side of the Tool, adjust the height of the Thermistors relative to each other and the
Thermistor Clip.
3.
Slide the Thermistor Clip back onto the Downtube.
4.
Using the top of the Adjustment Tool, position the Thermistors so that the bottom Thermistor just
touches Tool.
