The Water-Waste valve should activate during the Sample Processing step to remove the water.

The Elution valve should activate during the Rinse steps to pull the solvent into the Collection
Vessel.

Using the Vacuum Test apparatus and the T-Fitting, measure the vacuum as
follows for each Module:
a.
Turn off the nitrogen and de-pressurize the Solvent Bottles. This will
prevent solvent from moving during the next tests.
b.
Fill a beaker or other cup partially with tap water.
c.
Slide the Thermistor Clip, with the Thermistors attached, off of the
Downtube as shown in the picture.
d.
Create a method within the Envision system as follows:

Load the method onto all Modules.
f.
With the Vacuum Test gauge installed into the Module Platform, press Start
g.
Using the beaker or cup of water, after 15 seconds, put the Thermistors into the water. This will
“trick” the SPE-DEX into moving from dispensing solvent to draining the solvent, activating the
Solvent-Waste valve.
h.
Measure and record the Solvent-Waste vacuum. The nominal value for this reading is the value
that can be read on the Solvent-Waste Manifold (typically -15”Hg ± 2”Hg).
i.
When the Sample Process begins, wait 10 seconds, and then place the Thermistor Clip into the
beaker or cup of water. This will “trick” the thermistors and activate the Water-Waste pathway.
j.
Measure and record the Water-Waste vacuum. The nominal value for this reading is the value
that can be read on the Water-Waste Manifold (typically -24”Hg ± 2”Hg).
k.
After the rinse has occurred (no solvent will spray out) measure and record the Elution vacuum.
The nominal value for this reading is -6 to -9”Hg.
