Select Excel 10
IMPORTANT
When connecting to an Excel 10 VAV Controller, make certain that the front end device is not accessing points at the
same time that the HHT is or collisions can occur causing communications problems.
The first step after assigning the Operator Level is to select the Excel 10 to communicate with. Choose the Select Excel 10
from the MAIN MENU below.

HHt Functions
Once the menu item Select Excel 10 is chosen then press the Enter key. This displays the screen below that gives the four
methods to select the Excel 10 controller.

NOTE: The operator must plug the HHT into a network access location (controller or wall module). All HHT functions other
than authorization, engineering unit selection and passwords will require communication with a controller. There is
no off-line configuration or database creation. Every operation is interactive. Anytime communication to a selected
controller is lost, the following error message is displayed Excel 10 does not respond. Pressing the Enter key
returns the display to the MAIN MENU.
Node Number ID
NOTE: The Node Number ID referred to in this document is not the same Node ID that is assigned to the controller through
the CARE commissioning tool. This Node Number ID is a reference number related to the HHT only. This number is
assigned through the HHT function menu and is accessed by selecting the Node Number ID function.
Select the Node Number ID menu item and then press the Enter key, the following screen appears which prompts the
operator for a two digit Node Number. See the NODE NUMBER screen below.

Enter a valid two digit node number for the desired device then press the Enter key.
Valid node numbers are 01 through 99. The speaker beeps if the device is not found and one of the two possible three line
messages displays.
1. If the node number entered was never assigned to an Excel 10, the display reads Node (XX) is not assigned, followed
by Press <enter>. Pressing the Enter key returns the display to the Select Excel 10 menu.
2. If the node number entered was assigned to an Excel 10 but communication could not be established the display reads
Node (XX) not responding, followed by Press <enter>. Pressing the Enter key returns the display to the Select Excel
10 menu. Pressing the Prev Menu key brings the operator out to the Select Excel 10 menu.
