Draining the Fuel Tank and Carburetor
DRAIN SCREW
DEBRIS SCREEN
Gasoline is highly flammable and
explosive.
You can be burned or seriously
injured when handling fuel.
Stop the engine and keep heat,
sparks, and flame away.
Handle fuel only outdoors.
Wipe up spills immediately.
Unscrew the fuel tank cap (see page 43), remove the debris screen,
and empty the fuel tank into an approved gasoline container. We
recommend using a commercially available gasoline hand pump to
empty the tank. Do not use an electric pump. Reinstall the debris
screen and the fuel tank cap.
Loosen the cover screw and remove the maintenance cover (see
page 45).
Loosen the carburetor drain screw.
Drain the gasoline from the carburetor into a suitable container.
Remove the spark plug maintenance cover (see page 51).
Remove the spark plug cap.
Turn the engine switch to the ON position (see page 23).
Pull the starter grip (see page 24) 3 to 4 times to drain the gasoline
from the fuel pump into a suitable container.
Turn the engine switch to the OFF position.
Tighten the carburetor drain screw.
