Layout
The geodyna optima balancer is fitted with a laser
scanner (fig. 8-1, details 1, 2 and 3) for the automatic
measurement of the wheel data.
The internal laser scanner (detail 1) carries out the
following measurements:
a)
detects the internal profile of the rim to identify the
optimum position of the weight to apply on the left
part or internal part of the rim;
b)
calculates the distance and diameter of the rim;
c)
detects the left outer radial and lateral runout;
d)
detects the number and position of any spokes.
The laser scanner integrated on the wheel protection
guard (detail 2), carries out the following
measurements:
a)
automatically calculates the best point for the
application of the weight on the external part of the
rim;
b)
detects the right lateral and radial runout;
c)
detects the width of the rim.
The rear laser scanner (detail 3) carries out the
following measurements:
a)
detects the tread runout, or the runout of only the
rim on the bead recess.
