ChASSIS TUNING GUIDE

Adjusting Droop - Front and Rear
Droop is the distance each wheel drops from normal ride height when the chassis is lifted off the ground. Droop is adjusted on each
wheel by turning the grub screw in each lower suspension arm up or down.
Generally, more droop equals more roll which equals more traction. Less droop equals less roll which equals less traction. Droop also
changes weight transfer. Experimentation will be necessary to achieve the desired response, dependant on your track conditions and
driving style.
recommended initial settings
l
We recommend initially leaving the droop screws in the factory setting.
q
To decrease droop, use a 2.5mm hex wrench to tighten (turn clockwise) the droop
screw in the top of each lower suspension arm. To increase droop, use a 2.5mm hex
wrench to loosen (turn counter-clockwise) the droop screw in the top of each lower
suspension arm.
The
Outlaw RTR Brushless Buggy
features a 21T pinion gear that will work well for bashing. If you're racing your
Outlaw RTR Brushless
Buggy
, you will probably want to experiment with different pinion gears.
In general, using a smaller pinion gear (19T) will result in quicker acceleration, but slower top speed, and using a larger pinion gear
(23T) will result in faster top speed, but slower acceleration. It's all a matter of experimenting with different pinion gears to find the one
that best suits your track and driving style.
n
Adjusting Gearing
Hobby People 19T and 23T pinion gears are available as optional parts. For more information, see the Option Parts List on
page 36. The
Outlaw RTR Brushless Buggy
uses a Metric 48 Pitch pinion gear with a 5mm bore.
q
Using a 1.5mm hex wrench, loosen the grub screw in the side of the pinion gear,
then remove the pinion gear from the motor shaft.
q
Install the new pinion gear, making sure that the pinion gear is centered with the
spur gear and that the grub screw is tightened firmly against the flat spot on the
motor shaft.
recommended initial settings
l
We recommend initially using the stock 21T pinion gear already installed.
q
After readjusting the gear mesh, reinstall the gear cover. Installation is the reverse of removal.
q
Remove the 2.6 x 6mm Round Head Self-Tapping screw from the top of the gear
cover, then pull the gear cover off.
IMPORTANT:
After installing a different pinion gear, you should readjust the gear mesh prior to driving your
Outlaw RTR Brushless
Buggy
. For more information, see page 22.
