As shown in Figure 4.2.2-5, adjust the height so that the gap between the specimen
height gauge and the topmost surface of the specimen will be approximately 1 mm (0.5 to
1.5 mm). As shown in Figure 4.2.2-6, loosen the lock nut 1, adjust the height by turning the
height adjustment screw, and then tighten the lock nut 1onto the lock nut 2 to secure the
specimen stub. In addition, rotate the lock nut 2 once on the specimen height gauge to
confirm the height.
