13.3. CLEANING THE LASER SYSTEM
13.3.1. ASPECTS TO CONSIDER
The most contaminating element for the lenses is dust or the vaporized material itself. These elements
can be removed with a small air pump. It is not recommended to use any type of aerosol because it
could lead to freezing if it is not kept completely vertical and at a prudent distance.
Special care should be taken in the inspection of optical elements with polished surfaces. These are
highly hygroscopic (water soluble), they can be damaged if they are touched by fingers or can become
opaque if mist is applied to them.
13.3.2. LASER SYSTEM COVER
Use a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. Avoid touching the lenses with the damp cloth.
Do not use abrasive materials which might damage the laser system.
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to dry the cover. Avoid touching the lens with the cloth.
13.3.3. VISUAL INSPECTION OF OPTICAL ELEMENTS
Inspection and cleaning of the elements protected by these covers must be done by specialized
personnel.
If any optical component shows signs of contamination or damage, it must be cleaned with the acetone
(or replaced) and realigned. This work must only be done by a specialized technician

DO NOT remove any protection cover or other covers.
