13.3.5. LENS CLEANING
Lens cleaning must be done using latex gloves.
Carry out the following steps to clean the lens:
1. Make sure the laser is not enabled. (In any case, it is advisable to turn the system off to clean
the lens).
2. Remove the lens. Unscrew the lens and holder from the base of the laser system or marking
head depending on the laser system.
3. Carefully inspect the condition of the lens surface.
4. Lay the lens and its holder on a flat, even surface.
5. Fold the lens cleaning paper twice or three times (avoiding sharp corners), hold it with the
tweezers and moisten it with acetone (the lens cleaning paper must not be soaked).
6. With the aid of tweezers, gently use the lens cleaning paper to rub both surfaces of the lens with
a circular movement. The tweezers must never touch the lens surfaces because this would
damage its coating.
7. Repeat the procedure (changing the paper each time) until the lens is clean.
8. Install the lens and its holder on the marking system base.
It is not possible to recommend a suitable frequency for cleaning the lens, because it will depend on the
kind of product that is being coded. Products that generate a large amount of particles and fumes when
coded will also dirty the lens faster, so it will be necessary to clean it more often. Each user shall
establish the cleaning frequency required, depending of the hours of marking and the kind of product
coded.
