Towing Machine a Short Distance

CAUTION: Cables, straps, or ropes can break causing
serious injury. Do not tow machine with damaged
chains, frayed cables, slings, straps, or wire ropes.
Always wear gloves when handling cable, straps or
wire ropes.
When your machine becomes stuck but the engine is still
operational, attach wire ropes to the machine as illustrated
at right, and slowly tow your machine to firm ground using
another machine.
Be sure to attach the wire ropes around the track frames of
both machines as illustrated.
To prevent the wire ropes from being damaged, place some
protective material between the track frame and the wire
ropes.
IMPORTANT: Do not use the shackle holes on the track
frame for towing the machine.
A center shackle hole on the track frame is provided
to pull only lightweight objects. The shackle holes on
the bottom of the track frame are used to secure the
machine for transportation. Refer to the instructions
on page 5-42 for using the center shackle hole
appropriately.
