2. ADJUSTING THE PILOT FLAME
Thepilotflameshouldenvelope3/8to½in.(10to13mm)
ofthetipoftheSpark/FlameSensor,depictedinFigure8.
Toadjustthepilotflame:
a.Removepilotadjustmentcoverscrew.RefertoFigure9.
b.Turninneradjustmentscrewclockwisetodecreaseor
counterclockwisetoincreasepilotflame.
c.Alwaysreplacecoverscrewafteradjustmentandtighten
firmlytoensureproperoperation.
3. MEANS OF PROVING ADEQUATE GROUNDING AREA
Theproperflame-rod-to-ground-arearatiocannot
alwaysbedeterminedbyvisualexaminationor
physicalmeasurement.Apositivemeansofchecking
theinstallationisthemeasurementoftheflamerod
currentunderactualfiringconditions.Itisdefinitely
recommendedthattheinstallermeasurethecurrent
flowbetweentheleadoftheflamerodunitandthe
terminalinthecontrolterminalboard(seeFigure7).
MeasurethecurrentwithaDCMicroammeterorequal.
Werecommendasteadyoutputof0.9microamperes
ormore.Asteadyflowofcurrentinthisamountunder
actualfiringconditionswillgenerallyindicateadequate
groundingofthepilotflame.
NOTE:
1. Readallcontroldatasheetsuppliedwiththisheater.
2. Checkflamerodforanycontacttoheaterparts.Flame
rodmustbefreeofanycontacttoheater.Contactwith
heaterwillshortcircuitflamerod.
3. Crackedporcelainonflamerodwillshortcircuitsensor.
Replaceflamerod.
