During the calibration, you will see the on screen display indicate the level being set for each speaker. If the system is
unable to properly calibrate the level for any output channel, a “Failure” message will appear on screen (Figure #xx).
Before proceeding again check to make certain that all amplifiers and speakers are properly connected, and that any
adjustments on the speakers or amplifiers themselves are made. Repeat the calibration process again once the
system has been checked.
NOTE:
If the Automatic Calibration process fails repeatedly, contact your dealer or installer for assistance.
If the calibration process for the Main speakers is complete successfully, a message will appear. (figure #xx)
Calibration for the Subwoofers is identical to the calibration of the Main Speakers. Leave the calibration microphone at
the listening position. At the “System Setup - Auto Calibration” menu, press the “
Ð
“ button once so that the on screen
“
Ö
“ pointer is on the “Subwoofers” line. Press “Select” once to view the reminder menu (Figure #xx), and press
“Select” again to start the calibration.
As with the main speakers, the test signal will start at the left subwoofer, and then move to the right subwoofer. Verify
that the sound is coming form the speaker that matches the indication displayed on the screen. If the speakers are
incorrectly connected, press any button on the remote to stop the calibration. Turn off the amplifier and make any
needed corrections, and then restart the calibration process.

Manual Calibration
For some systems, it may be appropriate to calibrate the system manually. This is necessary when the room has very
odd shapes and spaces which create acoustical problems that prevent the Automatic Calibration System from
delivering an accurate reading. Manual Calibration is also necessary when the listener’s preferences require settings
where the levels at each speaker at not equal.
When calibrating the system manually it is strongly suggested that an accurate sound pressure level (SPL) meter such
as the Radio Shack model 32-2050 or 32-2055 be used. Place the meter at the listening position and point it toward
the ceiling. It is suggested that the meter be placed on a tripod or stand, rather than being hand held, to avoid any
changes during the test procedure. Set the meter to the “C Weighting - Slow Mode”.
From the “System Setup - Speakers” menu, use the “
Ð
“ button on the remote so that the on screen display has an
“
Î
“ pointing to “Speaker Calibrate”. (Figure #xx). Press “Select”, and then the “
Ð
“ button so that the “
Î
“ points to
“Manual Calibration”. Press “Select” to move to the next menu.
The Main Speakers should be calibrated first. Press the “Select” Button to move to the next screen. For proper
calibration, the 7.0 must first be set to a reference volume level. It is suggested that this be the level normally used for
listening in the room. Use the “Up” or “Down” buttons on the remote (“
Ï
“ and “
Ð
“) to set the reference volume. (Figure
#xx)
When the reference level is set, press “Select” to continue. If the reference level has been set to the THX standard, the
calibration screen will be displayed. If the system has not been set to the THX reference level, a warning message will
be displayed. (figure #xx)
NOTE:
To calibrate the room to THX standard, it is suggest that a 0 db reference point be established. An on
screen indicator is provided for this level. Although this is recommended, it is not required for calibration.
