Tires

5.12.1 Checking tire wear
Check the tires weekly for signs of wear
and tread depth.
5.12.2 Disassembling the tires
Work on the wheels may only
be carried out by technical ex-
perts and correspondingly trai-
ned personnel!
The following description relates exclu-
sively to solid rubber tires.
1. Park the vehicle on an even surface
and secure against rolling away.
2. Switch the engine off and remove
the ignition key.
3. Position the jack under the frame
(Fig. 22/1).
4. To remove the tires from the vehicle,
loosen the five inner flange nuts (Fig.
22/2).
5. Raise the vehicle using the jack.
6. Remove the flange nuts.
7. Remove the tires with rims.
These are center split rims.
The tires may only be removed
from the rims after they have
been disassembled from the
vehicle and fully deflated
5.12.3 Fitting tires
Work on the wheels may only
be carried out by technical ex-
perts and correspondingly trai-
ned personnel!
1. Remove the old tire from the rim and
fit a new one.
2. Lower the vehicle using the jack.
3. Tighten the flange nuts at a torque of
135 Nm.
4. Check the torque after approx. 5
operating hours.

Brakes
Work on the brake system may
only be carried out by technical
experts and correspondingly
trained personnel!
The function of the service brake and
parking brake must be checked for the
first time after 50 operating hours and
subsequently every 250 operating
hours.
The brake shoes must be changed eve-
ry 1000 operating hours.
