 Cleaning the electrodes

1.  Turn the power switch OFF and unplug the

AC adapter from the outlet.

2.  Remove the cover.

3.  Turn  the  knob  at  the  center  to  the  left  and

remove the electrodes.

4.  Clean the tips of the electrodes.

5.  Assemble the components by reversing the

removal procedure.

CAUTION

Make sure fibers from the cotton swaps

do not stick to the electrodes.

When attaching the electrode, secure it

by turning the knob at the center to the

right as far as it will go.

Handle with care because the tips of the

electrodes are sharp.

Make sure the cover is securely attached

to the unit.

 Changing the filter

1.  Turn the power switch OFF and unplug the

AC adapter from the outlet.

2.  Remove the filter retainer.

3.  Install the new filter.

4.  Install the filter retainer.

 Checking the static elimination

effect

We  recommend  using  the  HAKKO  430  static

level meter to check how effectively the unit is

eliminating  static.  The  HAKKO  430  measures

the electric potential and the ion balance of the

charged body without contacting it and indicates

the results on a digital display.

WARNING

Do  not  neglect  to  perform  the  maintenance  and  daily  inspection  procedures  described

below. High voltages are produced inside the HAKKO FE-500 main unit. Dust collected on

high-voltage areas can present a fire hazard.
