The grease nipple (1) is used to re-lubricate the spindle. Depending on
the frequency of use and the requirements placed on the device, the
spindle must be greased at regular intervals, at least annual.
To do this extend the spindle support device as far as possible and
retract it again as you lubricate it.
The spindle support device must be checked by an expert at least during
the normal vehicle inspection routine, particularly for stiffness. If neces-
sary wear parts are to be replaced. The spindle support device is filled
with durable grease. It must not be connected to the central lubrication
system.
If you replace gear parts, spindles or nuts, you must grease the device.

Dismantling instructions for servicing work and wear test
Before removing it from the vehicle check the spindle support for stiff-
ness and signs of external damage.
Fit and remove the support device on the vehicle as set out in the
operating and installation instructions supplied by the vehicle
manufacturer.
To remove a support with a gear (–> page 14)
1. Disassemble the crank assembly (9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14).
2. Remove the nuts from the housing cover assembly (1).
3. Take the housing cover with crank drive off.
Do not push the crank drive out of the housing cover. Locking
pins can get lost.
4. Pull the small toothed wheel (6) out.
5. Remove the protective cap and sealing ring assembly (20).
6. Loosen the retaining ring from the drive shaft (3), pull the drive shaft out.
7. Remove the large toothed wheel assembly (5) and the large bevel
gear assembly (18) simultaneously.
Remove the bearing assembly (22), and the pin and washer assembly (18).
Degrease all parts and check for wear.
8. Pull out the external tube over the internal tube.
9. Check the bearing (7), for signs of wear and replace it if necessary.
10. Pull the kit pins (21), out of the internal tube.
11. Remove the completely assembled spindle with the nut and thrust
bearing (3), degrease the parts and check them for signs of wear.
The spindle is OK if the nut can be turned over the complete lifting
distance by hand using the same force. There must be no damage on
the thread of either the spindle or the nut.
To remove a support without a gear
1. Remove the protective cap and sealing ring assembly (20).
2. Loosen the retaining ring from the drive shaft (4), pull the drive shaft out.
3. Remove the small bevel gear (19) and the large bevel gear assembly (18).
4. Remove the bearing assembly (22), and the pin and washer assembly (18).
Degrease all parts and check for wear.
Continue disassembly as described above, starting with point 8.
