Proxy server
A proxy or proxy server is a service program for
computer networks that administers data trans-
fer. It makes data transfer faster, and can also
increase security by implementing access control
mechanisms. The transfer is conducted between
computers or programs in computer networks.
On the server side, the proxy acts as a client; on
the client side, it acts as a server.
Router
A router is a network component that links sev-
eral computer networks. Router analyzes (on the
basis of layer 3 information) the network pack-
ages of a protocol it receives and forwards it to
the intended destination network. Conventional
routers work on layer 3 of the application layer.
A router has an interface for every network con-
nected to it. When data is received, the router
determines the correct path to the destination
and thereby the suitable interface via which the
data can be transferred. For this it uses a locally
available routing table that specifies via which
router connection a particular network can be
reached.

SCR (Single Channel Router)

If your antennae system is equipped with
a single cable system multi switch, the televisions
which are connected to this antennae system
can receive television programs independently
from one another.
Security (WEP/WPA)
WEP (wired equivalent privacy) is the standard
encryption algorithm for WLAN. It controls both
access to the network as well as ensuring the
confidentiality and integrity of data. This proce-
dure is considered insecure nowadays. For this
reason, more recent WLAN installations should
use the more secure WPA encryption.
Symbol rate
Amount of transmitted symbols per time unit in
digital transmission technology.
Time Shift
You can pause a program that you are watch-
ing. This is a useful function. For example if the
telephone rings while you are watching a film
and you do not want to miss anything.
The program is saved in the Time Shift memory
of the external data volume.
A maximum of 60 minutes of the current
program can be recorded in the Time Shifter
memory.
Transponder
Gathering of various transmitters on a fre-
quency.
USB Recording
Enables recording and playback of digital
television programs (DVB-S, DVB-T and DVB-C).
This is dependent on the respective program
provider.
The recording and playback of programs can
only be carried out with an external data vol-
ume (hard drive or USB stick).
Vibrant Colour
Increases the color contrast and the contrast ad-
justment. This setting is mostly too strong for use
with normal pictures and should only be used
where necessary (low or off) otherwise nuances
in the image can be suppressed.
Wi-Fi
Wireless transmission of Internet and Intranet
parcels.
WMA
These formats enable recording and playback
of audio files which sound as good as a CD, yet
only occupy a fraction of the storage space.
