8.3 Applications
Grundfos pumping stations are used for collection and pumping
of drainage water, grey wastewater and sewage. The pump type
depends on the pumped liquid.
8.4 Pumped liquids
8.4.1 Liquid temperature
Maximum 40 °C. For higher temperatures, contact Grundfos.
8.4.2 Acids and alkalis
If not specified for other pH values, the pumping station is
normally capable of withstanding pH values between 5.5 and 8. In
case of doubt, contact Grundfos.
8.4.3 Density
Maximum 1100 kg/m

8.5 Pumping station system (PS.S)
Sections
and
apply
to pumping station systems consisting of Grundfos-approved
components mentioned on the nameplate of PS.S.
The pumping station system contains all the elements making the
pumping station function as one unit, and can contain the
following five elements:
• pit
• pump
• pump controller
• level controller
• accessories.
The pumping station system may not always have all five
elements. However, it will always have a pit and a pump, but the
pump controller or the level controller may be incorporated in the
pump, and/or accessories may be omitted.
8.5.1 CE approval of PS.S
PS.S is CE-approved in accordance with these directives and
standards:
• EN 2006/42/EC, EU Machinery Directive
• EN/ISO 12100, Safety of machinery - General principles for
design - Risk assessment and risk reduction.
In order to ensure safe transport and to fulfil customer requests,
the PS.S elements can be assembled on site. But the CE
approval of PS.S is only valid if the following conditions have
been fulfilled:
• PS.S has been assembled correctly in accordance with the
installation and operating instructions for PS.S and the pit,
pump and control systems.
• PS.S contains the Grundfos specified elements stated on the
PS.S nameplate. The PS.S nameplate is fitted inside the pit.
8.6 Pumping station modular (PS.M)
PS.M is used instead of PS.S when the CE approval for the
complete system is not needed or some of the components in the
pumping station, e.g. the controllers, are not supplied by
Grundfos.
A risk assessment for the complete system must be performed by
the customer, if necessary.
Do not operate the isolating valve in the pit or valve
chamber from the ground level.
Do not place pumps temporarily on the service
platform.
