1. Clear away all tools and objects used during
assembly, lubrication, and preparation.
2. Make sure that chuck and jaws, if installed,
are secure (refer to
Chuck Installation on
Page 31)
.
Note: If chuck is not installed on lathe, you do
not need to install one for this test.
3. Verify master power switch (see Figure 21) is
in OFF position.
4. Press E-Stop button (see Figure 21).
5. Move FWD/REV switch to "0" position (see
Figure 21).
6. Rotate spindle speed dial all the way counter-
clockwise (see
Figure 21).

Note: In the next step, you may need to rock the
chuck back and forth as you make the adjust-
ments, so that the gears will mesh together.
7. To ensure carriage components do not unex-
pectedly move during the following steps,
disengage half nut lever and feed selec-
tion lever (see
Figure 22). Rotate carriage
and cross slide handwheels back and forth
while moving levers to verify they are disen-
gaged. When disengaged, handwheels will
turn easily.
