SoundPals User's Guide
DFADE-2 • 39
The following parts are required to build your remote control unit:
•
Remote housing (case)
•
4 (four) 10 k
Ω
potentiometers (sliders or knobs). These
provide reference voltages to the converters, not audio.
•
1 (one) 9-pin “D” control connector
•
Shielded multi-conductor cable
•
Power is
not required
Using the previous “pin-out” table and diagram as a guide, the
following connections can be made:
•
Connect the top lead of all pots to
Reference HI
(pin 5)
•
Connect the bottom lead of all pots to
Reference LO
(pin 7)
•
Connect pot 1’s slider lead to
Left Pan
(pin 8)
•
Connect pot 2’s slider lead to
Right Pan
(pin 3)
•
Connect pot 3’s slider lead to
Left Fader
(pin 9)
•
Connect pot 4’s slider lead to
Right Fader
(pin 4)
IMPORTANT
When you design and connect your remote control
unit,
all control inputs
must be connected to
prevent spurious audio processing. Do not leave
any of the control pins (
3
,
4
,
8
, or
9
) floating.
Note the following important points regarding your design:
•
Shielded cable should be used between the remote controls
and DFADE-2 to provide noise free control signals.
•
For short runs in low-noise environments open (wires twisted
tightly together) may be sufficient.
For your reference, the figure below shows the signal flow through
DFADE-2, and thus the effect of each of the remote controls.
