9.4 To replace the stub shaft and rotor. First place the stub shaft against the
corresponding holes in the end of the crankshaft.
Clean the threads of the 6 off socket head screws to remove old sealant.
9.5 Use 2 of the screws to guide the stub shaft to the correct location on the crankshaft
end. When the stub shaft is in place remove the 2 screws.
9.6 Place the rotor on to the crankshaft over the stub shaft and tap into place being
careful not to disturb the location of the stub shaft. The teeth on the outer edge of the
rotor will engage with teeth on the starter motor.
9.7 Apply a sealant (Loctite 243 or equivalent) to the 6 off socket head screws and
insert screws into the stub shaft. Tighten each screw to a torque setting of 60Nm.
10. Replacing Pump on to Engine
When replacing the pump assembly back to the engine, note these points
–
The pump and engine are best joined together outside of the frame.
10.1 The pump body houses a bush that provides a location for the starter motor shaft.
This is on the right side of the pump as viewed from the front.
At the same time the pump shaft which is splined, can be located into the internal
splines of the stubb shaft. Grease all the splines with CV grease.
