For subsequent oil checks -
As stated before this is a dry sump lubrication engine. Oil is pumped from the engine
into the oil tank while the engine is operating. When the engine is switched off, a
portion of the engine oil may flow from the oil tank back into the engine. Therefore
inspect the oil level immediately after switching off the engine.
If the engine has been turned off, run the engine for two minutes at idle speed to
circulate oil from the engine sump back into the oil tank (if possible keep water in the
pump to ensure the main seal is lubricated). Stop the engine and check the oil level
with the dipstick as described in the previous section. If necessary top up the oil level
or drain off some oil to achieve the correct level.
Change Engine Oil and Filter
Engine oil is drained through the bottom of the oil tank. With the engine stationary and
oil still slightly warm, remove the plug and allow oil to drain into a suitable container.
Oil filter is located on the left side of the engine. Remove the guard, retained by 7
screws to the pump frame, to gain access to the oil filter. A special tool may be
required to undo the filter. Coat the seal of the new filter lightly with oil. Screw in the
new filter and hand tighten. Further information about changing the oil filter is provided
in the Weber Repair Manual section 110.04.01.
