8.9 The fuel tank is fitted with a wiring harness linking to 5 fuel level sensors. If there is
any damage to the harness or connections these must be replaced as a complete
harness.
8.10 To replace the fuel tank or fit a new tank, it is a reversal of the removal process.
It is advisable to tape the wiring harness in place on the tank to ensure it does not
obstruct or snag when replacing the tank.
Note: the M6 bolts at each end of the fuel tank are longer than the ones under the tank.
Apply a small amount of Loctite 243 to the threads of all the 6 x M6 bolts before
securing the tank back into the frame.
8.11 There are two fittings inserted into the tank body
– fuel filter (68158) and equal tee
(65572). If these need to be replaced, then apply Loctite 410 on the thread of both
fittings and Loctite 770 activator to the thread in the tank body, just before inserting the
fittings. The combination of the two Loctite applications will form a secure seal.
Note the orientation of the fixings in the tank.
