NOTICE:
If the engine control switch is held in the “H”
position after the indicator glows red, the glow
plug system may be damaged.
5. With the clutch and accelerator pedals fully pressed,
turn the engine control switch to START.
After turning the starter switch to ON, press the
accelerator pedal slightly to increase the fuel
quantity for easier starting.
NOTICE:
Do not keep the starter engaged for more than
10 seconds at a time. Wait 10 to 15 seconds before
trying again.
If engine does not start after a reasonable time,
determine the cause of the malfunction. Pumping
the accelerator pedal will in no way assist in
starting the engine.
6. Release the key the instant the engine starts.
7. After the engine starts, check to make sure the
transmission is still in NEUTRAL (N), and release
the clutch pedal.
8. Press the top of the idle control switch to obtain a
smooth idle. Allow the engine to run at not more
than 900 rpm until normal operating temperatures
are reached before applying any load. Do not race
the engine to speed warm
-
up.
9. Press the lower part of the idle control switch to
return the engine to normal idle speed after the
engine has warmed up.
CAUTION:
Do not use idle control switch when vehicle is
moving because it could reduce your ability to
stop in an emergency. You or others could
be injured.
