INTRODUCTION

PURPOSE
The MaxOptix magneto-optical disk (MOD) drive, T5-2600P* Star, is being offered as an upgrade option to
replace the current Pioneer MOD drive used in CT and MR Genesis-based systems. The current systems have
one of the following Pioneer drives installed: DEUH7101, DEUH7001, DDM5101 and DDM5001. Table 1-1 shows
the CT and MR systems with the correct software revision needed to perform this upgrade.

The new software versions must be installed before the
Maxoptix drive upgrade may be installed.

UPGRADE KIT CONTENTS
Check that the following items are included in the upgrade kit, E8001ND:
•
(1) Maxoptix T5-2600P* Star magneto-optical disk (MOD) drive with g4.2 firmware
OR (1) Maxoptix T5-2600P magneto-optical disk (MOD) drive with g61a firmware
•
(6) Mounting screws with washers for Maxoptix drive installation
•
(1) Drive filler plate if replacing full height drives
•
(2) screws for drive filler plate installation
•
(2) nuts for drive filler plate installation
•
(50) Maxoptix rewritable 1.2GB 512 BPS media
•
Rating plate

MANPOWER
One field engineer is required to perform the upgrade for no more than three hours, assuming that no pre-existing
problems are found. No special tools and equipment are required to complete the Maxoptix drive installation. All
necessary materials are included in the upgrade kit. For computers that did not have the MOD drive option
previously installed, ordering a mounting bracket and/or a dual opening bezel may be required, as explained in
sections 2-3 and 2-4 of this installation manual.
