Relief Valve Setting
The factory relief valve pressure setting is marked on a metal tag attached to the valve cover. It
is recommended that the relief valve be set at least 10 -20 psi (69 - 138 kPa) higher than the
operating pressure or the system pressure control valve setting.
Relief valve cap is exposed to pumpage and will contain some fluid.
WARNING
Incorrect settings of the PRV can cause system component failure,
personal injury and property damage.
CAUTION
Adjusting the Relief Valve
To adjust the PRV, proceed as follows:
Note: Numerical references are included to indicate part identification.
1
To increase the pressure setting, remove the relief valve cap (1) and gasket (88), if equipped.
Turn the adjusting screw (2) inward or clockwise. Inspect the PRV cap gasket (88) and replace
as required. Re-attach the PRV cap gasket and replace, if required. Re-attach the PRV cap, if
equipped.
2
To decrease the pressure setting, remove the relief valve cap and gasket. Turn the adjusting
screw outward or counterclockwise. Inspect the PRV cap gasket and replace, as required. Re-
attach the PRV cap gasket and replace, if required. Re-attach the PRV cap, if equipped.
Pump Lubrication
The pump’s ball bearings must be lubricated every three months (at minimum). More frequent
lubrication may be required, depending on the application and the operating conditions.
