2. Slide the protective cover onto the bar and close it until the snap fit
(13)
engages.
3. Push the locking button
(A)
and remove the battery
(B)
from the battery
holder
(D)
.
4. MAINTENANCE
DANGER! Risk of injury!
Cut injury when the product starts accidentally.
v
Wait for the chain to stop, remove the battery and slide the
protective cover over the bar before you maintain the product.
To clean the Pole Pruner:
DANGER! Risk of injury!
Risk of injury and risk of damage to the product.
v
Do not clean the product with water or with a water jet
(in particular high-pressure water jet).
v
Do not clean with chemicals including petrol or solvents.
Some can destroy critical plastic parts.
The airflow slots must always be clean.
1. Clean the pole pruner with a damp cloth.
2. Clean the airflow slots with a soft brush (do not use a screwdriver).
3. Clean the bar with a brush, if necessary.
To clean the battery and the battery charger:
Make sure that the surface and the contacts of the battery and the
battery charger always are clean and dry before you connect the battery
charger.
Do not use running water.
v
Battery charger: Clean the contacts and the plastic parts with a soft
and dry cloth.
v
Battery: Occasionally clean the ventilation slots and the terminals on
the battery using a soft brush that is clean and dry.
To tension the chain [ Fig. M1 /M2 / M3 /M4 ]:
RISK OF BURN INJURIES!
A too tightly tensioned chain can lead to motor overload and damage,
whereas insufficient tensioning can cause the chain to jump off the rail.
A correctly tensioned chain offers the best cutting performance, opti-
mum battery life and a longer service life. Therefore, you should check
the tensioning regularly as the chain may expand when being used
(especially when the chain is new; following first installation, the tension-
ing of the chain must be checked after the chainsaw has been used for
a few minutes).
v
However, do not tension the chain immediately after use but
wait until it has cooled down.
The Allen key for the screws
(17)
is situated inside the protective cover
(18)
.
1. Loosen the two screws
(17)
(Do not unscrew the screws
(17)
!)
2. Lift the chain
(19)
in the middle of the bar
(20)
.
The gap should be approx. 2 – 3 mm.
3. Turn the adjusting screw
(24)
clockwise if the chain tension is too low.
Turn the adjusting screw
(24)
counterclockwise if the chain tension is
too high.
4. Retighten the two screws
(17)
.
5. Start the pole pruner for approx. 10 sec.
6. Check the chain tension again and adjust it if necessary.
5. STORAGE
To put into storage [ Fig. O12 ]:
The product must be stored away from children.
1. Slide the protective cover onto the bar and close it until the snap fit
(13)
engages.
2. Remove the battery.
3. Charge the battery.
4. Clean the pole pruner, the battery and the battery charger
(see 4. MAINTENANCE).
5. Store the pole pruner, the battery and the battery charger in a dry,
enclosed and frost-free place.
Disposal:
(in accordance with RL2012/19/EC)
The product must not be disposed of to normal household
waste. It must be disposed of in line with local environmental
regulations.
IMPORTANT!
v
Dispose of the product through or via your municipal recycling
collection centre.
Disposal of the battery:
Li-ion
The GARDENA battery contains lithium-ion cells that should not
be disposed of with normal household waste at the end of its life.
IMPORTANT!
v
Dispose of the batteries through or via your municipal recycling
collection centre.
1. Discharge the lithium-ion cells completely (contact the GARDENA
Service).
2. Protect the contacts on the lithium-ion cells against short circuits.
3. Dispose of the lithium-ion cells properly.
6. TROUBLESHOOTING
DANGER! Risk of injury!
Cut injury when the product starts accidentally.
v
Wait for the chain to stop, remove the battery and slide
the protective cover over the bar before you troubleshoot
the product.
To replace the chain [ Fig. M1 /M2 / M3 /T1 ]:
DANGER! Risk of injury!
Cut injury due to the chain.
v
Wear protective gloves when replacing the chain.
When the cutting performance reduces significantly (dull chain), the chain
must be replaced. The Allen key for the screws
(17)
is situated inside the
protective cover
(18)
.
Only the original GARDENA Spare Chain and Bar Art. 4048 or the
GARDENA Spare Chain Art. 4049 may be used.
1. Unscrew the two screws
(17)
.
2. Remove the cover
(21)
.
3. Remove the bar
(20)
with the chain
(19)
.
4. Remove the chain
(19)
from the bar
(20)
.
5. Clean the motor unit
(1)
, the bar
(20)
and the cover
(21)
. Pay extra
attention to the rubber seals in the housing and the cover
(21)
.
6. Pull the new chain
(19)
over the front stop
(a)
of the bar
(20)
.
Make sure that the chain is running in the right direction and
that the front stop
(a)
points upwards.
7. Put the bar
(20)
on the motor unit
(1)
so that the pin
(22)
is guided through
the bar
(20)
and the chain
(19)
is placed around the drive sprocket
(23)
.
8. Put the cover
(21)
on the motor unit
(1)
again. Pay attention to the rubber
seal.
9. Tighten the two screws
(17)
slightly.
10. Tighten the chain (see 4. MAINTENANCE).
