Use the formula in chapter „3.5 Calculation of cable cross-section and length“ on page 12 to
calculate the maximum permissible line lengths of the drive supply cable and the required cross-
sections.
For low voltage operation use cables without earth wire only!
1.3 General
information
The Assembly and Operating Instructions are an important part of the delivery. These instructions
contain important information on the product and how to use it safely and reliably, especially the
sections marked by warning symbols in chapter 1.1!
Read these instructions through carefully before installation and initial use and refer to them during
mounting and installation.
Once the installation is complete, hand over the instructions to the user. Instruct the user on how to
use the product so that this person knows what to do at all times, e.g. during:
Operation, troubleshooting, handling.
Maintenance, cleaning, service, inspection, repair, and disposal.
Point out to users that they must keep the instructions handy in order to be able to refer to them
during subsequent maintenance.
1.4 Defi nition
RWA systems are smoke and heat exhaust ventilation systems that open RWA openings in the event
of fi re in order to remove combustion gases. This action is triggered either by manual alarms (manual
call point RWA push-button HSE) or by automatic alarms. Windows or doors are generally used as
RWA openings in order to achieve the prescribed opening cross-section for the building.
The objective is to keep the escape routes smoke-free in the event of fi re.
1.5 Intended
use
According to the obligations defi ned in the German Product Liability Act (§ 4 ProdHaftG) to be met by a
manufacturer in relation to his products, the following information in these instructions must be observed.
Non-compliance with these instructions will exempt Gretsch-Unitas GmbH Baubeschläge from liability.
The entire system must only consist of GU components or components approved by GU. Use of
combinations not approved by Gretsch-Unitas GmbH Baubeschläge and/or improper installation of
the system and/or use of non-genuine accessory parts, or parts not approved at the factory, will lead
to exclusion of liability.
In order to perform the assembly and installation correctly, the directions in the GU installation drawings
and the GU Assembly and Operating Instructions must be observed. When using components by other
manufacturers approved by GU, the instructions of these manufacturers must also be observed.
The operator, or installer authorised by the operator, must plan and calculate the wiring system
according to statutory requirements. We recommend you test the insulation of the wiring for the
system and document this before releasing it for operation. All functions of the system must be
carefully checked before releasing it for operation.
Please get in touch with our experts if you require support with planning and installation of the system.
Check the delivered equipment immediately upon receipt and check it for possible transport
damage. Check against the delivery note that the delivered goods are complete. Any complaints
subsequently made cannot be recognised.
Please note that a log book must be kept for the compact control units RZ 25 / RZ 50 / RZ 75 and
stored where the trained personnel can access it at all times.
