5.3 Bringing the BKS-NET into operation
As the BKS-NET is a bus device, it recognises the bus master/bus slave and function master/function
slave functions. The bus master coordinates when communication takes place on the bus. The
function master performs the logical functions for the bus system and makes the inputs available for
the central functions (central push-button, rain...) that apply for all participants.
In the delivery condition, the RZ 25/RZ 50/RZ 75 compact control units are confi gured for initial
start-up as bus master and function master. The bus activity and participant function is displayed via
LED H11:
The function in the bus system is decided by the initial start-up sequence. The fi rst control unit to be
switched on is the function master.
Once the fi rst control unit has been switched on, wait roughly 30 s before activating the
other control units on the bus. The other control units (max. 4) that are connected on the bus
automatically become bus slaves.
Start-up procedure for function slaves:
 
Wire the LA and LB cables of the compact control unit to the compact control unit that has just
been brought into operation
 
Do not connect the two battery lines or disconnect them
 
Switch on the mains supply
 
Wait at least 30 s
 
Repeat this procedure for all bus slaves in turn until all participants are connected via the BKS-
NET bus.
The factory settings of the RZ 25/RZ 50/RZ 75 compact control units can be restored by applying
jumper J1 and pressing the RESET button for 5 seconds. This resets all the settings modifi ed via the
software and the bus function. The control unit must then be disconnected from the network and
from the battery supply (both batteries).
