Inherent security
The base station and your handset are linked via a radio channel when you make calls,with the base
station acting as the switchboard between the phone system and your handset. Continuous authori-
zation takes place between the base station and your handset to prevent any other parties from
"eavesdropping" on your conversation, or making calls at your expense. If the authorization codes do
not agree, no connection is set up with an "outside" handset.
A very high degree of "listen-proof" security is provided between the base station and the handsets.
Important settings for your phone are protected by your PIN.
KeyGuard
With the KeyGuard activated (see page 20) you can carry your handset around without worrying
about inadvertently dialing a number. The exception to this rule are the numbers stored under "Emer-
gency numbers" (see page 55) - these numbers can also be dialed with the KeyGuard feature activat-
ed.
