Spark plug servicing
Only use Torch F7RTC, Champion RN7YC or NGK BPR7ES Spark plugs. To ensure proper
engine operation, the spark plug must be properly gapped and free of deposits.
1.
Remove the screws on
the left side maintenance
cover (6) and remove
(Fig. 40).
2.
Pull out the spark plug
cover and rubber foot
(Fig. 41).
3.
Remove valve cover using
a 10mm spanner to loosen
the centre bolt.
Note:
Be careful not to
damage the seal (re-usable
gasket).
4.
Remove the spark plug
with spark plug wrench (Fig. 42).
5.
Visually inspect the spark plug. Discard it if the insulator is cracked or chipped. The gap
should be between 0.6 – 0.8mm (Fig. 43). Clean spark plug with a wire brush if it is to be
reused.
6.
Install the spark plug carefully by hand, to avoid cross-threading. Tighten it securely with
a spark plug wrench.
7.
Reinstall the spark plug cover and rubber foot, securely on the spark plug.
WARNING!
The spark plug must be securely tightened. An improperly tightened
plug can become very hot and possibly damage the generator.
