7.1.3 Restoring Factory Defaults
If the system still fails to start up with another firmware selected, perform the following procedure to restore the XG700 to
factory defaults.
(Step 1)
Connect the XG700 to a serial terminal.
Turn on the XG700.
Press the [#] key with the following message appearing on the serial terminal screen.
Preparing to boot
At the XG_LOADER> prompt, enter the following command.
XG_LOADER>
boot init
When the above command is executed, the startup-config, time zone and summer time settings, and password of the
XG700 are restored to the factory defaults and the system restarts,
If the system still fails to start up, perform the following procedure.
(Step 2)
Turn off the XG700 and on again.
Press the [#] key with the following message appearing on the serial terminal screen.
Preparing to boot
At the XG_LOADER> prompt, enter the following command.
XG_LOADER>
clear setup
When Step 2 is executed following Step 1, all settings of the XG700 are initialized, and then the system starts up.
Entering the "clear setup" command displays the following message:
This command will clear the setting and automatically reboot the system, which will make the setting default.
Are you sure to continue [y/<n>]?
Explanation
If you respond with "y" or "Y", the XG700's all settings are reset to the factory defaults and the system restarts.
To cancel the process, respond to this message with any keys other than "y" or "Y".
The following message appears while the system is rebooting. Note that it does not indicate a failure if it appears after
the command has been executed.
*** Warning - bad CRC, using default environment
Explanation
The boot loader's system startup data area was initialized.
XG WARNING[S7521]: init-firmup: Firmware update information is initialized for region %1$.
Explanation
The firmware update information area was initialized.

Timezone and summer time settings will be initialized. After restarting the system set timezone and summer time as
necessary.
