Equipping rules
Main memory
Independent Channel Mode
–
Allows all channels to be equipped in any order. However, DIMM1 must be
equipped first for a particular channel (A-F).
–
Works with DIMMs of different clock frequencies and sets them at the lowest
frequency.
Mirrored Channel Mode
–
Requires identical modules on channels A&B (CPU1) as well as on
D&E (CPU2).
–
Half of the capacity is used for mirroring – the available memory for applica-
tions amounts to just half of the installed memory.
–
Channel C (CPU1) or channel F (CPU2) are not available in this mode and
must not be equipped.
Performance Channel Mode
–
Requires modules on all channels of each bank for each CPU.
Spare Channel Mode
–
Requires identical modules on all channels of each bank for each CPU.
–
One-third of the capacity is used as a spare area – this reduces the usable
memory for applications to two-thirds.
