1.
Turn off the computer and disconnect the AC adapter from it.
2.
Plug the printer cable in the parallel port on the back of the computer.
The parallel port is trapezoid when viewed from the front.
(1) Insert the cable connector in the parallel port securely in correct orientation, then (2) tighten
the screws on both sides of the connector to secure it.
3.
Connect the printer cable and the power cable to the printer.
For the ways of connecting these cables, see the manual for the printer.
Some printers come with a power cable directly connected.
4.
Plug the power cable of the printer in a wall outlet and turn on the printer.
5.
Connect the AC adapter to the computer and turn the power on.
6.
When using a printer for the first time, you may need to install the driver.`

Caution in Using a Printer
Even if the printer manual states that the driver will be installed automatically if the printer is
connected and turned on, the driver may not be installed as described in the manual. In such
cases, follow these steps to install the driver manually.
1.
Click the Start button, and select Settings and Printers.
2.
Click the Add Printer icon.
The Add Printer Wizard dialog box appears.
3.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Critical Point
If you are asked to insert the Windows Me CD-ROM, click OK, type the following in the dialog
box that appears, then click OK again.
