ROS ASSY
The ROS ASSY is a laser beam output unit that consists of the LD Assy, SCANNER Assy, lens,
mirror, window, and so on. In this manual, the ROS ASSY is simply called ROS.
- The LD ASSY converts the received electric signals to laser beams by the laser diode at emission.
The laser diode output (LD power) is monitored and controlled by the monitor circuit so that it is
always fixed.
- The SCANNER ASSY consists of the Scanner motor (that rotates at low speed), polygon mirror
(that has a six-side mirror attached to the shaft of the Scanner motor), and so on. The laser beam
reflecting angle changes by the rotation of the polygon mirror, and one line is scanned for each
mirror along the drum shaft. The laser beams reflected from the polygon mirror are radiated on the
drum surface through the lens, mirror, window, and so on.
HARNESS ASSY CONNECTOR
Senses whether the Drum/toner cartridge is set.
Drum/toner cartridge
Consists of the drum, BCR, magnet roll, CM blade, cleaning blade, and so on.
- The drum is an aluminum cylinder on which OPC sensitive materials having the optical electro-
conductivity (holds charge in a dark place and flows charge to earth when it gets sunshine) are
deposed. It generates a latent electrostatic image used as an print image source using potential
difference on the surface.
- The BCR equalizes the unevenness of the charge on the drum surface and equally charges the
drum surface in the [charge] and [cleaning] steps of the print process.
- The magnet roll supplies toner to the drum to develop a latent electrostatic image on the drum
surface.
- The CM blade equalizes toner on the surface of the magnet roll and applies charge to toner by
friction.
- The cleaning blade scratch-removes the remaining toner to clean the drum surface after the
[transfer] step.
