Interface

The interface between the automation system and the network performs the following functions:

Data transfer between the automation system and the higher-order controller.
–
Transmission of control signals to the connected modules.
–
Monitoring the functionality of the connected modules.
–
Access to system parameters (read/write), input/output signals and diagnostics data (depending
on the interface).

The input/output modules include various module types:
–
Digital input/output modules can be used, for example, to query sensor signals or to control
actuators.

Analogue input modules acquire analogue input signals in an automation system.
–
A IO-Link master in an automation system provides multiple IO-Link-Ports for the integration of
IO-Link-Devices.
