If you wish to power up the central unit, please briefly press the ON/OFF button [
see Chapter 4, legend
item no. (3)
]. Once the start screen has faded, the system offers the choice between
“Correlation mode”
and ”Geophone mode“. For further information, please refer to [
Chapter 7 Leakage detection:
Correlation

5.2. Powering up for electroacoustic listening
Headphones:
Connect the headphones to the headphones jack of the LOKAL 400 device [
see Chapter 4, legend item
no. (7)
], if required. Please use the original headphones only as they have been designed specifically for
acoustic leakage detection purposes and feature certain leakage-borne noise identification capabilities.
Sensors:
Please make sure that one of the following microphones is used for an acoustic leakage detection
process (geophone) with the Lokal 400 device:
-
Ground microphone
(
see Chapter 3, legend item (5)
)
The ground microphone (5) is a wind-protected microphone to be applied for precise leakage
calibration. It can be positioned directly on paved ground. If the ground is unsurfaced (e.g. grass
or gravel surface), the ground microphone can be attached to the tripod magnet (8). Therefore
it is perfectly suited for double-check or verify correlation results.
-
Testrod
(
see Chapter 3, legend item (6)
)
The testrod is applied to listen to fittings in order to pre-locate any leakage. The extensions allow
the operator to reach even fittings which are located in deep manholes, and the operator does
not need to to climb down the manhole.
-
Universal microphone (accelerometer)
/ universal microphone with handle (not shown)
The universal microphone can be applied in combination with extensions as a
testrod
, or it can be
used in combination with the magnet as a
contact microphone
to pre-locate a leakage. Thanks to
the tripod (8), the accelerometer can also be applied as a ground microphone to locate a leakage
precisely or to double-check the correlation results.
Lokal 400 central unit:
If you wish to switch the central unit on, press the ON/OFF button [
see Chapter 4, legend item (3)
] just
briefly. As soon as the start screen has faded, the operator can select between
“Correlation mode” and
”Geophone mode”. For further information, please refer to [
