Additional Description
Set
verbose/r
esponse mode

This command contr
ols both verbose r
esponses/messages and tagged (labeled) r
esponses.
Verbose mode is a communication mode in which the device r
esponds with mor
e information than it usually would. For example, the
IPCP can send out a notice of a change in some setting without r
eceiving a query via your PC. That change could have been a r
esult
of an inter
nal pr
ocess (a scheduled script execution), a selection made using a touchpanel or keypad, a change made using GV or the
embedded web pages of the device, or input (a voltage or r
esistance change at a port) fr
om a connected sensor or switch. That is an
example of a verbose (wor
dy) r
elationship between the contr
ol pr
ocessor and a connected device.

•

, you r
eceive status messages, such as
X8%]
when the switched power ports change fr
om normal operation
to an overload state, or
X%
]
when a r
elay is opened, closed, or toggled. These ar
e not r
eplies to a command that you send, but
they ar
e unsolicited messages that ar
e generated by the equipment.
NOTE:
Verbose mode cr
eates mor
e network traf
fic than usual, which can slow down network performance.
Verbose mode is usually enabled for tr
oubleshooting and disabled for daily use.
•
By default, when the IPCP is connected via Ether
net, verbose mode is disabled in or
der to r
educe the amount of
communication traf
fic on the network.
•
If you want to use the verbose mode (other than mode 0) with a contr
oller
, this mode must be set to “on” each time you
reconnect to the contr
oller
.
