All data within the source ID packet is ASCII encoded to allow for simple decoding and monitoring of
any element within the source ID packet.
The SID tab contains all controls relating to Source ID processing. It allows the user to specify the
contents of the source ID VANC packet that will uniquely identify the module and act as its
fingerprint/signature
on the processed video signal. It also reports the other components of the source
ID tag that are not user configurable. Figure 5-25 illustrates the layout of these controls in the
VistaLINK® PRO configuration view. The specific functionality of each control is provided below.

SID Controls
Source ID Processing:
This control allows the user to enable Source ID Processing. When set to
Enable,
all Source ID tags on the input are processed and embedded on the output video signal.
Additionally, the module will also append its own Source ID tag. When set to
Disable
, no input Source
ID packets will be processed, and the module will not append its own Source ID tag on the output
video signal.
Source ID DID:
This control allows the user to set the Data Identification (DID) value for the Source
ID SMPTE-291 packets.
Max Source ID Tags:
This control allows the user to set the maximum number of Source ID tags to
be processed and embedded on the output video signal.
Source ID Output Line:
This control allows the user to set the VANC output line to embed the
Source ID packets.
Time Zone:
This field allows the user to set the Time Zone Code for its Source ID tag. The Time
Zone is a maximum of 4 characters.
NOTE:
Care must be taken to properly restrict the number of Source ID packets to
ensure they won’t exceed the number of bytes per VANC line of the output video
standard.
